On Wednesday, you received instructions on how to ink your new Whisper White Craft Ink for the very first time. If you missed that post here’s the link. Now that you have Whisper White Craft Ink pad all ready to go, it’s the perfect time to explore ways to use it. Here’s a couple of suggestions, to get you started.
Chalkboard
Whisper White Craft Ink is perfect for creating the “chalkboard” effect. Use it to stamp on dark cardstock. You might also include smudging some ink around the edges to enhance the chalkboard effect. The card I created below, takes it’s inspiration from a framed coffee shop chalkboard that I saw at a local cafe.
I just love how well the Coffee Cafe Bundle and coordinating Coffee Break Designer Series Paper go with the Wood Textures Designer Series paper! (All the products I used for this project will be listed at the end of this post)
You don’t have to stick to stamping on black cardstock either. If you’ve ever taken a trip to the paint section at Bunnings or your local hardware store, you would have noticed that chalkboard paint is sold in a wide variety of colours. The most dramatic contrast happens when you stamp on darker colours. Using whisper white craft ink, I stamped the “life happens” sentiment on Early Espresso card stock to coordinate with the Coffee Break Designer Series Paper.
You might notice the lid of the coffee cup is glossy. I stamped it with Whisper White Craft Ink and heat embossed it with White Stampin’ Emboss powder and my trusty heat tool. That’s two different ways to use Whisper White Craft Ink on one card!
Creating Shadows
Have you seen stamped images on dark cardstock that appear to have a light shadow? This is another whisper white craft ink effect. Stamp your image in Whisper White Craft Ink on the dark card stock and dry it with your heat tool. DRYING the white ink is essential! You don’t want to contaminate your dark ink pad with craft ink! TRUST ME on this! Clean your stamp and use a different colour then use your stamp-a-Ma-jig to slightly offset your image over the original stamped image. This creates a shadow. Let me show you what I mean…
Cool hey!
You may recognize that this centre-opening card is a “stepped up” version of the Colorful Seasons Bundle sample on page 146 of your 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue. In addition to using the Whisper White Craft Ink to subtly shadow the old olive leaves, I added some score lines with my Stampin’ Trimmer, copper trim, gold and copper metallic thread and copper foil. I love the linen thread and olive olive mini chevron ribbon! The Color Theory DSP and Starburst Punch are cute too.
So there you have it! Three different ways to use your new Whisper White Craft Ink. So off you go and get inky! Can’t wait to see what you create!
Before I forget, here’s what I used in the first sample:
