Stampin’ Blends are here! Woo Hoo!

I LOVE the look of shaded colors in my card making and adore creating seamless blends of colour with shadows and highlights. Personally, I love my Copic markers, but if I’m completely honest, I just don’t have time to use my Copic. Frankly, I have more than I should and they sit unloved in a case, somewhat neglected, waiting for me to make time to use them.

So after investing all that money, why haven’t I used them?

I must start by saying I know how to use them and am Copic certified to an intermediate level – Many hours have been spent in classes refining my copic techniques. As you know, I’m not one to brag but I am REALLY good at using them.

The issue is:  I have a busy life. I’m sure you do too!

The truth of the matter is – I don’t have hours to devote to colouring one flower. When I made my initial Copic investment, I loved the look but didn’t really know how time consuming it is.  The reality is I never had the time, but I invested more money in them in the hope that maybe, just maybe, one day I just might have enough time to use them as I love what they can do. That was years ago!

I invested the money I’d saved for many years for a much coveted pair of Christian Louboutin high heels (shoes) to purchase markers and get Copic Certified.   That is how badly I want to be able to include beautiful blending in my projects – I sacrificed a once in a life time opportunity to own a pair glorious really expensive designer shoes to learn this art. The shoe connoisseurs and aficionados among you feel my pain.

Reality check time!

I simply don’t have the time to sit around and color all day! Are you in the same boat?

Don’t get me wrong… Copic are really fun… but they are also really expensive and complicated. Despite having 18 shades of green, I still didn’t not have enough to color one leaf! Anyone familiar with Copic KNOWS I am NOT exaggerating.

Lots of colors translates lots of dollars and storage. I have four Copic storage wallets for those markers.

Time for a Quick Recap

If you want to blend but don’t want to:

  • spend a lot of money,
  • have to buy 256 markers and
  • purchase storage to hold them all

then Stampin’ Blends certainly are the answer!

The Details:

As I mentioned in my previous post there are 27 markers but let’s explore this some more:

  • There are 10 colors plus two neutrals that come in combo packs.
  • There is also an Ivory and Bronze.
  • There is a Color Lifter – don’t buy any markers if you don’t get the Lifter.

Unlike Copic, you don’t need specialty paper!  Whisper White or Thick Whisper White card stock are perfect.  You will need the Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and refill if you don’t have one.

That’s all the special stuff you need. Later on you can also experiment with other cardstock such as Crumb Cake, Shimmery White and Very Vanilla cardstock – Keep in mind it will change the look of the colours.

It is that simple!

There is a new release Project Kit and Stamp set that you can grab, more info about those here BUT don’t leave and look at them now.

Are you ready to give them a whirl? Will you brave and take your creativity out for a spin, break away from just AquaPainters and blender pens for blending? Yes? Good! Here are the two options that I recommend:

Option 1:   One+Two+Three

  1. Grab One (1) Lifter.
  2. Add Two (2) Neutrals.
  3. Pick Three (3) Colors.

Yes it’s as easy as one, two, three!  But which colors? So happy you asked…

Do your projects include flowers and leaves? Or are you into the traditional red and green Christmas creations? If you said yes to either of these then you must, Must, MUST get the Old Olive duo. Why? Because if any color is going to sell out first, I predict Old Olive will be it as it is the only green available.

Next up, think about the projects you’re making or planning right now – if you plan to create Christmas cards and make Valentine’s – then a Cherry Cobbler combo is your next option – there isn’t another red.

And then the next color would be the Pink Pirouette set. It works with flowers and Valentine’s, springtime and even Christmas.

So why two neutrals?

Neutrals allow you to broaden your colour palette by blending them to create different shades.  So if your projects feature

If you create in both, then it’s kinda like tripling your investment and getting nine colours instead of three. However, if your projects feature lots of faces and skin tones then, bronze and ivory are your must haves.

Don’t forget your lifter – remember this is a must have for the best Blends experience. If you aren’t going to get your Lifter, don’t get any Blends at all.

So if you:

  • are still struggling with choosing colours
  • aren’t sure if you’re making the right color choice
  • think you might want to blend a collection of flowers, might want to use both bold and subtle colors
  • suspect your spouse would appreciate you taking care of your own Christmas present this year
  • are overdue for a treat – you “deserve” and have “earned” this a really awesome treat

Or all of the above, then take a look at option 2

Option 2:  The Complete Set.
