Glimmer paper is adds just a little something extra to a project.

Last week I made this card for my stamping friend, Pam.  A few of our friends asked “where did you get the lemon lime twist glimmer paper? It matches perfectly!”   The answer is simple “Stampin’ Up!” (Of course!)

Now before you race to your annual catalogue and curse me because you can’t find Lemon Lime Twist glimmer paper, I have to tell you, I used silver glimmer paper  on this project.

I can hear your gasps of disbelief from here. Trust me! It is silver glimmer paper which has been sponged with my sponge daubers using the lemon lime twist stamp pad to get the exact colour I want!

Pretty tricky huh?

Different glimmer papers will look different even though they are coloured with the same ink. Let me show you what I mean.

Did you know you can colour Stampin' Up! glimmer paper? Look at how different glimmer paper can look even when coloured with the same ink! #stampinup #allthatglitters #glimmerpaper #tuesdaytip #papercrafttechniques #techniquetuesday

I coloured silver, dazzling diamonds and gold glimmer paper with Lemon Lime Twist ink. See how different they look. You will find the Glimmer papers on page 194 in the 2017-2018 Annual Catalogue. You will notice that I didn’t attempt this with the red glimmer paper. Why change perfection? I thought it would be too dark for the Lemon Lime Twist, but I’m sure this technique will work on red glimmer paper with darker inks.

This technique opens a whole world of possibilities… Instead of just four glimmer paper colours, you have a choice of at least 151 glimmer paper options. The four standard glimmer papers PLUS silver, gold, red and dazzling diamonds coloured with the 49 current Stampin’ Up! inks and any retired Stampin’ Up! colours that you may have in your stash!

How cool is that?

Don’t stop there.  If you want a different effect, you can spritz your glimmer paper with your Stampin’ spritzer filled with water or rubbing alcohol and a few drops of Lemon Lime Twist ink refill. If you don’t mind glitter on your lemon lime twist stamp pad, try direct ink to paper technique.  Don’t forget the sponge brayer, stamping sponges, blender pensaqua painters, markers and stampin’ Blends can all be used to colour your glimmer paper.  Try these options on a piece of scrap first to ensure you like the colour. Glimmer paper can be dry embossed with the Big Shot too. This opens even more creative opportunities!

So next time you want glittery paper but don’t have the right shade, grab your colouring tools, some glimmer paper, your ink and get to work colouring! Hope you liked this Tuesday Tip.  You can check out my previous tips and techniques here.
