Christmas is finally here!

It seems like there’s been months of preparation for this one day!

I’m up early savoring my coffee before the Christmas celebrations begin. Although, I love spending time with my family and friends, Christmas Day can get a bit hectic and a little stressful at times. It is nice to enjoy my coffee in the tranquility of our garden before the hustle and bustle starts.

This year, our daughter, Paris is home for Christmas morning. SO EXCITED! She alternates each Christmas eve/Christmas morning/lunch and dinner between her father’s house and our home.  We are very blessed that it’s our turn for Christmas morning and lunch this year.

Even though Paris is 20, there is still something really magical about watching your child open their Christmas presents in their pj’s. It never gets old! The mess of wrapping paper. Groans and laughter when Steve & Paris open their one “tacky, joke” gift. Watching our puppy, Delphi open her gifts (new toys are always welcomed!). Seeing the sheer delight when they see that you’ve actually given them what they asked for but didn’t think in a million years that you’d get it. Every thing about Christmas morning around our tree is AWESOME!!!! Love it all!  Then there is the ritual of sitting down together for a yummy Christmas breakfast. On the menu this year is french toast, maple syrup and triple smoked ham followed by fresh berries and fruit salad.   (Would they mind if I started now?  Getting hungry just thinking about it!)

A highlight of our Christmas is our early morning phone call to Steve’s parents in New Zealand and hearing about their plans for the day. Sadly, this is the the first Christmas since Steve’s mum, Mary passed away – I miss her every day but I can’t wait to chat to Bill before he heads out to a Christmas feast with friends!

Whatever you are doing today, hope it is a happy time.  My family and I wish you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas filled with much love, joy, laughter, good food, and great company! Stay safe and well over the holidays! May 2018 bring with it good health, prosperous times and grand adventures.
Best wishes always xo
