Yesterday, during class my dear friend announced she was in desperate need of an engagement card. She needed it fast. Surprisingly, I don’t have a stash of engagement cards (I need to remedy this ASAP). It was the end of class and she was headed out to dinner so I had about 15 minutes to make an elegant card that she would proud to give the happy couple.
The challenge was set!
What to do? A quick glance at our workshop table revealed a piece of shimmery white and some Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper. That was a good place to start. A glance at my craft studio desk, exposed some night of navy card stock and ink, gold foil, white organza ribbon (retired) and the Bunch of Blossoms Stamp set. (My metallic edge ribbon is missing – I might need to do a clean up!) So I grabbed these supplies and my circle punches and got to work.
In under 15 minutes, we had a card that my friend was happy with. This is the result.
I’m pleased to say that it took way longer for me to search for the right supplies than it took to actually make the card.
Finding the right words (Sentiments)
Sometimes you just don’t have time to search your entire stamp collection to find the right words for your card. In my case, it has been so long since I’ve made an engagement card that I really have no idea if I own a stamp set other than Teeny Tiny Sentiments that says “Happy Engagement”. So I improvised. “Let’s celebrate your day” is perfect for this occasion, as it will be given to the couple at their engagement party. Any number of other words such as Best Wishes or Congratulations would have worked too. Don’t be afraid to experiment with different words.
About Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper
Metallic accents are on trend right now. Everywhere you look there seems to be a metallic touch. It doesn’t matter if it’s clothes, home wares, shoes, or even office stationery, you’ll see hints of gold, silver and copper. The Springtime Foils Specialty Designer Series Paper certainly embraces the trend. Let’s take a look:
Two of the papers in this collection contain floral images than can easily be coloured. Use blender pens, Stampin’ markers or Stampin’ blends, or use your sponge brayer or stampin’ sponges on any of the papers to completely change the look of all the papers.
Perhaps, I should mention that you can’t buy this paper. It a Sale-a-bration reward that is only available for free with a qualifying purchase before 31st March. To find out more about earning Sale-A-Bration rewards, see my previous blog post.
