What does a park, van & dirty laundry have in common?

Orange Sky Laundry is Australia’s first mobile laundry for the homeless. Established in late 2014, the charity founded by two twenty-year-old best mates, Nicholas Marchesi and Lucas Patchett, provide free mobile washing and drying to the homeless with their custom fitted vans. With an overall goal to improve the hygiene standards of the homeless. They aim to raise health standards, restore respect and reduce strain on resources. Their concept and design of custom fitting a van with two washing machines and two dryers is a world first. Orange Sky Laundry aims to be Australia-wide and to continue to improve the lives of others.

Three years on…

2017 was a massive year of growth at Orange Sky with launches of new laundry vans in Wollongong, Central Coast, Newcastle, South Perth, Port Macquarie and SA Northern Districts. They launched Shower vans in Sydney and Melbourne.  Orange Sky saw an opportunity to help out people affected by Cyclone Debbie and flooding in Rockhampton and Northern NSW. During this time Orange Sky washed 10 tonnes of laundry and provided genuine connection and conversation to everyone involved. Check out the video below to see just how amazing 2017 was!

I don’t know about you but after watching those videos I’m so inspired! My inspiration is tinged with sadness that this service is needed here in our lucky country.

I hope you can pop down and see us next Sunday (10th June 2018) from 10am at the Algester State School to support this great initiative. Only one week to go!
