Happy Tuesday!
Time for another technique – Mask Heat Embossing. For the past two weeks, I’ve shared different heat embossing techniques, so I decided to continue on with this theme. (If you missed the last week’s post here’s a link)
Today’s Tuesday Technique is heat embossing with a difference! No stamps required!
It’s a pretty simple technique that only requires an embossing buddy, a mask (stencil) (I used Pattern Party Decorative Masks), Versamark Ink or Whisper White Embossing Paste, embossing powder, a heat tool and some painters or washi tape. Like I said you don’t even need stamps.
Rather than me write out all the instructions, let’s just take a look at the video:
Well, What do you think?
It’s not hard at all, is it? The beauty of the technique is you can just swap the Versamark Ink with Whisper White Embossing Paste for a completely different look. The big lesson from the video is your embossing buddy is your BEST friend when doing this technique so ALWAYS use it when heat embossing!
Now if you don’t have a mask that suits your project, why not make your own?
It’s easy! Just use your big shot, one of the fabulous dies from the annual catalogue (see pages to 215 to 220) and some card stock, window sheets or acetate. You could even use the dies themselves as a mask. The doilies on page 192 of the catalogue could be used as masks too. Anything is possible! You are only limited by your willingness to try out new things.
Don’t forget you don’t have to use this technique for backgrounds – use it on a die cut or punched piece card stock or Designer Series Paper for an interesting accent.
Now it’s your turn. Show me what you can do with this technique!
