Hello from Onstage, Orlando Florida.
The excitement is ramping up here as we get ready for a few days of creating with thousands of demonstrators from across the globe! I’ll attempt to do a Facebook Live Broadcast over the next few days so you can join in the fun too. But I can’t promise my technological skills will be fantastic, so I thought I should at least share the swap I made.
“What is a swap?” I hear you ask.
To put it quite simply, a swap is a project made with a particular product or theme that you swap for a project someone else has made. Now at Orlando there are quite a few formal groups set up for swapping (I stopped counting at 50) and there is a general swap. I opted for the general swap as I didn’t want to be constrained by numbers or a theme. The only criteria for a general swap is that it must be current Stampin’ Up! products. That leaves the possibilities wide open.
I created two different swaps. In my case, I had to keep them small so they didn’t get damaged in our travels.
Want to see one of my swaps?
Yes… well here it is… a planner clip or a book mark.

I call it Skippy and Kenny. Everyone knows the Skippy the bush kangaroo TV series from the 1970s. Kenny Koala was the mascot for Dreamworld (our local theme park).
I could have named the koala, Blinky after Dorothy Wall’s famous book, “Blinky Bill”. Considered calling him, Bunyip Bluegum from Norman Lindsey’s “Magic Pudding” but I wanted to keep it local and I didn’t want to have to explain what a bunyip is… Could have be worse, I could have to explain what a “triantiwontigongolope” is… (look up the poem by C.J.Dennis)
How I made this swap
It is really a quick easy project. Less than 10 steps!
- Gather the supplies listed below plus some jumbo paper clips (mine are from K Mart), Flag cake toppers (I got these from a specialist party shop) and some glue or glue dots.
- Stamp your image on Thick Whisper White cardstock using Jet Black StazOn ink (This ink is specially for water coloring)
- Cut out the image using the Animal friends thinlit dies and your big shot
- Cut a kangaroo from basic gray or crumb cake card stock using the Animal friends thinlit dies and your big shot
- Colour the stamped image with your watercolor pencils
- Go over the coloured area with your blender pen to blend and create shading.
- Wrap some tear & tape around one end of your jumbo paper clip and attach it to your grey or crumb cake card stock kangaroo
- Use dimensionals and mini dimensionals to attach the stamped image.
- Attach the flag using multipurpose glue or glue dots.
Now it’s ready to use on your planner or as a book mark. You could even add a magnet to the back and attach it to your fridge for those important notes.
If you don’t have the supplies you need – simply click on the image below and it will take you to my online store.
