Wednesdays are a bit of a strange day. Right smack in the middle of the week.
In the past, Wednesdays were my “day off”. It was my day for catching up with my best friends or my mum for coffee, movie, lunch or even a bit of card making. Of course, there was an expectation that I’d do ALL the running around needed to keep our house in order. Things have changed!
Now Wednesdays are even more wonderful! I get to share what I love!
Now my Wednesday mornings are filled with creativity!
The past few weeks, I’ve been trialling a new class format in partnership with the Algester Sports Club.
Each Wednesday, I spring out of bed and headed down to the club for Coffee Cake and Cards. (No more Wednesday errands for me!)
The concept is simple, we make a simple card then reward our efforts with delicious coffee and sumptuous cakes from the cabinet. I MAY or MAY NOT be working my way through the entire cake cabinet – the three options I’ve had so far were very delicious! My favourite is a toss-up between Vanilla Slice and Lemon Meringue Pie -I can’t wait to see what options we have to choose from this week.
Of course, after this mini-class, you can always stay for lunch in the Bistro – Nothing is quite as indulgent as having dessert first. So much better than doing housework or running errands!
Do you need to be an experienced card maker to join in?
Not at all!
In the past three weeks, eight people who have never stamped before have come along. It’s so much fun helping them create a card. I love seeing their excitement as they stamp and create their very first card.
We don’t worry about being the best card makers or making perfect cards – mistakes are ok and sometimes mistakes a little funny – the theory is there is nothing that can’t be fixed.
What sort of cards do we make?
Each week, the card we create is different from the previous week. They are all firmly in the beginner card-making category and are cards that you can quickly and easily make at home in 20 minutes or less. BUT they are all designed to look like they were difficult to make and took absolutely ages! The insides and envelopes are decorated too. I teach you all the tips and tricks to make them as easy as possible to make.
Here’s what we’ve made so far:
They are so different! A broad range of styles, colours and purposes. If you have a special occasion coming up, you can request a specific theme and I’ll do my best to accommodate your request. The purpose of the morning is to have fun and take home a card you are happy to use.
Here are a couple more fun snaps:
They all look pretty happy with their cards and coffee. Each week the group is different and people come when they can! There is no pressure to come every week!
Will you be joining us next week?

P.S. if you do come along, I recommend not wearing dark colours – avoid white if you can…trust me I’m a professional!
