There are so many gems in the 2019 Holiday Catalogue!

This Holiday catalogue  is filled to the brim (or is it bursting at the seams?) with so much Holiday goodness! Some of the wonderful products will be obvious right away! BUT there are quite a few hidden gems you may miss on your first, second, third or even 10th run through.  This is where I am here to help! I’ve put together a collection of things  that you might miss that I know you wil love.

Hidden Holiday Gems

This year the Holiday Catalogue is layed out a little differently.  On pages 3 to 5 you will find all the bundles for easy reference. i’ll let you discover these at your leisure. My goal today is to point out the hidden gems… are you ready?

All wrapped up

On page 7, in the second row right next to the designer series paper is Toile Tidings Gift Wrap.  How cool is it that you can wrap your gift to match the Toile Tidings card that you created?  There are two sheets of the two real red and very vanilla designs and the wrap is reasonably sized at 61cm x 91cm so there is more than enough in each sheet to wrap that A4 sized box you’ve hidden that gift card in. (What? Am I the only one that does that?)

Let’s skip a few pages to page 16

I completely missed that fabulous Itty Bitty Christmas bundles with the Christmas Layers Dies – don’t make the same mistake as me! Here’s the link to the Itty Bitty Christmas Bundle so you can save 10%!  But that’s not what I want to point out. Right there in the centre of the page are three new metallic inks and their refills.

Remember when you order ink pads, order the refills at the same time so you don’t get caught during your midnight crafting with no ink.

Hint:

To prevent smudging, dry your images stamped with the Delicata Metallic Inks using the LOW setting on your heat tool. Do not use the heat high setting! You don’t want to burn your images.

The secrets of page 19

There is so much to love on this page that it is be easy to miss the Real Red Glimmer Paper (150427) – who doesn’t love a bit of sparkle?  Also on this page are the Snowball Accents Puffy Paint (150691) and the Let it Snow embellishment Kit (150425).  I’m in love with this puffy paint! When you add a little heat it puffs up beautifully. The let it snow embellishments are perfect for dressing up the snowman.  The real red curly ribbon (150645) makes great snowman scarves too! .

Right up the top of this page, you might notice the Mini Curvy Keepsakes Box.  Maybe you have the old one?  One downside to the old bigger curvy keepsake box is that there was so much waste.  You had to run the die through the machine twice to get enough for one box and then you had to stick it together! Not with this mini die.  Run it through your die cutting machine once and it’s ready to decorate and fold.  So much easier and way less waste!

The other item you might miss is the Winter knit 3-d embossing folder.  If you like the ugly Christmas Jumper or in our cash rashie (sunshirt) this embossing folder might appeal to you.  To get the best results from the new Stampin’ Up! 3D Embossing folders be sure to use the new 3D embossing folder plate.  It adds a little more “oomph” to your die sandwich to make those 3D designs pop.

Night before Christmas

Some people leave their card making until the night before Christmas.  If you are one of those people, the Night Before Christmas Memories and More Cards and Envelopes will give you the perfect card base.  Now these card bases are thinner and more light weight than regular cardstock.  Don’t panic! This light weight makes them perfect to post overseas.  No more excess international postage charges because your beautiful card is too heavy!   (yes it is a problem.) These bases and envelopes are designed to coordinate with the the Night before Chrsitmas memories and more card pack to make quick easy cards but seriously you can team them up with almost any stamps in your stash!

Discover page 31’s gems

On the bottom right of the page, can you see the  1/2″ Very Vanilla classic weave ribbon with Merry Christmas printed in copper?  This is a hidden gem because you can colour it any colour using your Stampin’ Blends and the copper words show through.  So a must have for ribbon lovers! In my mind this is one of the best items in this catalogue!

Also on this page is the Hammered Metal 3D embossing folder.  If you arent into copper you might miss this.  Imagine using this embossing folder to create dinosaur or dragon skin or a cobblestone street or even crocoadile-skin handbag or snakeskin shoes.  There are endless possibilities. I can’t to see what you make with it!  (This is another 3D folder that works best with the 3D embossing folder plate.)

Look at page 33

Did you discover the Mercury Glass Designer Acetate Sheets (150441) on this page?  Stunning! Love, love LOVE this!!!

Did you notice also notice that the Memories of Home Stamp Set coordinates perfectly with the Gleaming Ornaments Punch Pack. This means if you buy Memories of Home and the Christmas Gleaming Bundle OR Brightly Gleaming Suite you will get twice the use from your punch.  Always love the opportunity to use more punches.

Pages 34 & 35

You may have missed this game changer – Reversibles! That’s right, Cup of Christmas contains reversible stamps so you can create reverse images easily! This is awesome! Watch the video and see what I mean.

How cool is that?  Maybe a sign of things to come?  Don’t forget that this stamp set is part of the Cup of Christmas Bundle.  The dies make it so much easier than fussy cutting! I know that you love it when things are a little easier.

On the very next page, you may miss the new Basic Pattern Decorative Masks.  These are easy to miss but you can make four fabulous backgrounds with these masks using embossing paste, shimmer paint, ink applied with a sponge brayer, dauber, sponge, or a stampin’ spritzer.

Alternately, rub your paper with an embossing buddy before putting your mask in place,  apply your versamark direct to the mask, remove the mask then sprinkle with embossing powder and heat it with your heat tool. Voila! A stunning background.

If you really want to experiment mix a few drops of your favourite ink refill with some white acrylic paint and sponge it on. Make sure you clean your masks immediately with warm soaping water.

Did I ention that the patterns suitable to use all year round?

Three gems hidding on page 41

Frosted Frames Dies are one of three hidden gems on this page.  These dies are stunning and can be used all year round with so many of your flower stamp sets. The Holiday catalogue does not show how stunning these are!

Number 2 gem is the Shimmery Crystal Effects.  You may remember the old crystal effects that retired a few years ago… well this is way better because it is glittery – you can add just a droplet like shimmery water drops or use it to make icicles or give a die cut element a shimmery finish. You can also like a glue to adhere the third hidden gem on this page the Ice Stampin’ Glitter to projects.

The Snow globe shaken domes  are designed to be used with the bundle on this page but if you sandwich two of these domes together you can make fantastic hanging ornaments ornaments. Of course you can fill it with snowflake sequins.

Moving right along to page 53

At first glance, this page might not hold your interest because it seems to be all about Halloween. Don’t be fooled! The ornate frames dies have nothing to do with Halloween and they are beautiful! Imagine using them for Christmas, birthdays or even a wedding.  Team these with the Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder (another hidden gem) and you will have a stunning card that has nothing to do with Halloween.

What did I miss on page 55?

I admit I went through the Holiday Catalogue many many times over the past month and I knew this item was in the catalogue but I didn’t see this MUST HAVE until last Thursday!   What is it?  The black dimensionals combo pack on the top left of the page of course! If you are layering black or dark cardstock, you need these.

Check out page 58

Add some sparkle to your projects with the bright Holiday Rhinestone basic jewels.  These come five colours and let’s face it we all need a little bling on our holiday projects.

TRIVIA: Why is it called the Holiday Catalogue?

I get asked this all the time.  The Holiday catalogue is a global publication and reflects the diverse beliefs of those who love Stampin’ Up! Did you know from the beginning of Setpember until 2nd January there are at least 18 dates that papercrafters celebrate their religious beliefs whether they be Hindu, Christian, Islam, Wicca, Pagan, Jewish, Buddhist or another belief.  Then add in special days like Father’s Day, New Years Eve, Halloween and Thanksgiving so it makes sense to call it a “holiday” catalogue rather than just a Christmas Catalogue.

What now?

Grab yourself a cuppa, sit down with your Holiday Catalogue,  your wish list and this post and savour all the Holiday Catalogue goodness. Then after you’ve drooled sufficiently and prioritised what you want first, head over to my Online Stampin’ up Store to place your order.

Until next time, Happy Creating!
