Woo Hoo!

I am doing the happy dance because the Stampin’ Up! Mini Catalogue 2020 is here and it is PACKED with goodies! This year Stampin’ Up! has renamed it the “January-June 2020 Mini Catalogue” but there’s nothing small or “mini” about it! There are SIXTY-ONE! – yes, 61 pages of new Stampin’ Up! plus a great index (more on that below), this catalogue has heaps of gorgeous goodies and lots of new ideas.

I am going to run through this beautiful catalogue from start to finish and tell you what has jumped out at me so far. Of course, as I use things and see projects and play around I ALWAYS find I add more things to my wishlist but this is what I am loving so far. Ready?

The Heartfelt Stamp Set (Page 10)

At first glance, this screams “Valentine’s Day”, right? But when you take a closer look, there’s only one stamp that says anything about Valentine’s Day. Everything else is all about love!  So this makes a great set for anniversaries, friendship and any kind of love you want to share. Now, don’t forget to order the coordinating heart punch pack – You know I love punches – they are so much faster than die cutting and super handy!  Of course, the stamps and punches come as a bundle so you will save 10% if you order then before 2 June 2020.

Thanks for the Laughs (Page 11)

I love these sayings, they’re super cute, humerous and will work on any type of card AND for people of any age!

Parisian Blossoms Specialty Designer Paper (Page 15)

My new favoruite coour combination might just be Petal Pink, Cherry Cobbler and Pool Party found in the muted patterns in this beautiful designer series paper (DSP) collection! (I am a big fanof the Parisian Vibe – Viva la France!)

Also on this page – and if you are following along, you know what I am going to say, the Parisian Flourish Embossing Folder! LOVE LOVE LOVE it!  The design is centered (GENIUS!!!) and the label punches (I will talk about these later) look absolutely perfect textured with this folder!

Okay, I admit I like everything on page 15, ALOT! If you are like me and want it all, make sure you use the Parisian Blossoms Suite item code to get everything on the page.

Stitched So Sweetly Dies (Page 20)

OMG!!! If you want a set of really versatile dies that coordinate with SO many things in the entire Stampin’ Up! lineup, them these are a for you!!!. Out of the whole Stampin’ Up! January – June Mini Catalogue 2020 these might just be the must have item. With 10 dies in the set that’s just over $5 a die – really? Such a great purchase given the price point combined with its long term useability! Did I mention it gives your die cuts a stitched detail?  It does and adds something a little extra to your die cuts.

Painted Poppies Bundle (Page 26)

As you may recall from previous posts, I have a high regard for those who serve in the military, so the poppies in this set appealled to me straight away.  But these poppies can be used for so many occasions: birthdays, thank you, sympathy, friendship and well, almost anything! I love this stamp set so much that if you purchase either painted poppies cling stamp set or bundle from me BEFORE 15 February 2020, you will receive a FREE written tutorial featuring three great projects.

Many of you have raised questions about the stamps and dies featured on pages 26 and 27, specifically about whether or not the dies on page 27 should be with “their” stamp set on page 26. Actually, the dies on page 27 COORDINATE but DO NOT LINE UP with the stamps on page 26. This is such a HOT papercrafting trend right now – having stamps and papers that are intended for backgrounds and added elements with coordinating but not matching dies to create focal features on projects. To be honest in the beginning I was a little confused, but now I see lovely projects with stamped designs and then a pop of a more dimensional, coordinating element that echoes but not copies the image, I like the look. You learn something new every day……

Breathtaking Bouquet (Page 31)

This set was tucked away in the top right corner of page 31. For the life of me, I don’t understand why Stampin’ Up! hid something this pretty and large in a small corner. I missed it several times, so I’m bringing it to your attention. DO NOT MISS THIS, PLEASE!!!  It’s a lovely background stamp which means you can stamp it, hit it with some color, add a greeting and, VOILA, an instant card. The possibilities with stamp are endless, (heat embossing, water colouring, spotlight stamping, triple time stamping, paper piercing all come to mind), so I really didn’t want you to miss it!

Label Me Bold (Page 36)

Another gem hidden in a corner! This stamp set is fun because contains “negative” greeting images. Sometimes a punch of color with the white letters can add a lot of impact with a tiny element. What about those “squiggles” and “blobs”? Well, remember the Gallery Grunge and the retired Gorgeous Grunge sets and how much we all used them? This set has more of that cool scribbly grungy stuff that will add just that “thing” to your project. It’s a great price too!

Coastal Weave 3D Embossing Folder (Page 39 )

Because it is an Embossing Folder and I must own EVERY SINGLE ONE. But also, because it’s GORGEOUS!

Page 41 – Label Me Fancy and Label Me Lovely Punches

Remember I mentioned these punches earlier in the blog? While I love my dies, if there’s a punch that can do the same thing for me, I will ALWAYS reach for the punch first. In my mind, you just can’t have enough label punches! These are so pretty and work with so many stamps. They are like finding the perfect pair of shoes in both nude and black, these will be go-tos for a long time!

Under My Umbrella Bundle (Page 42)

Yes, I channel my inner Rhianna and sing  “Under my umbrella, ella, ella, eh, eh, eh” every time I see this stamp set. (Now you will probably sing it too.)  The punch caught my eye but the stamps are really tempting me to order this bundle… Imagine how many super cute cards you can make in a flash with this bundle – the greetings are really sweet and positive and the fonts are pretty.

Page 43 – Tulip Builder Punch

Now I am sure you know by now why this punch is on my wish list – it’s a PUNCH. Personally, I am not a fan the coordinating  stamps as the flowers look kinda strange. But again, the greetings are beautiful and the punch with the stamps makes creating pretty, dimensional flowers so easy. The punch can be used for so much more…  Just imagine the space invader aliens, jelly fish and other punch art you can create with this punch – so many possibilities!

Country Club Designer Series Paper, Absolutely Argyle Embossing Folder & Country Club Twine Combo Pack (Page 47)

I’m lucky enough to have a few golf enthusiasts in my life and this paper is perfect for them. I adore the preppy look and when you flip the paper to the non-golf side, there are patterns are plaids, diamonds and all sort of preppy patterns that were popular in the 80’s (1980’s).  More than a litte tempted to grab my  “Ferris Buller’s Day Off” or “16 Candles” DVDs to watch while creating with these papers.

Another embossing folder… as you’ve worked out by now embossing folders are a must have for me – but this argyle is a little more detailed than most and is PERFECT for masculine cards with its straight-lined angular texture.  My husband acutally has argyle socks that look just like this pattern.

Look, if you’re gonna get the paper, add the coordinating twine. You may not know that baker’s twine from Stampin’ Up! is substantially thicker and also significantly softer than most so it ties and drapes much better than many other twines on the market. The added bonus is the colors look awesome with the paper!

Best Dressed 6″ X 6″ Designer Series Paper (Page 55)

If you don’t love all the other stuff on page , it would be easy to overlooked this Fabulous designer series paper.  In my opinion, this is the best variety of Stampin’ Up! paper available now. Gorgeous florals or patterns on one side, girly shoes, perfume, lipstick and handbags on the other.  As I said it is just GORGEOUS!

Seriously The Best (page 60)

What an aptly named stamp set!  My gorgeous friend Meg thinks this is the best set out of this whole Stampin’ Up! mini Catalogue 2020. The lovely large greetings can serve as both the greeting AND a focal element and I’m totally loving this trendy but not too-trendy font! It’s perfect and will work with brushstroke stamps, bold stamps, florals, and cute little critters (animals) – you name it!  Can’t you see it being heat embossed?  OMG! I’m sure this will get lots and lots of post on Pinterest!

One Concept Four Way (Pages 66 & 67)

These two pages show four different ways to use stamp sets and card concept to create gift packaging, gifts, home decor projects, scrapbooks or journals.  It is a great place to find some inspiration to “step up” your projects.

The Index (Pages 69, 70 and 71)

You will notice something a little different about this Stampin’ Up! mini catalogue… Not only did they change it to a landscape (horizontal) orienation which enables them to show more side-by-side images, Stampin’ Up!  also added a fantastic index of products at the back. If you are an embossing folder fanatic (There is no one like that here is there, is there?) , turn to page 70 and you will see all the embossing folders featured in the Stampin’ Up! Spring Catalog 2020. Or perhaps, ribbon is your thing down the bottom of page 70, you will find all the ribbon offered in this cataluge.  What a great tool!  You can probably guess, that I’ve used it heaps already!

I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s blog and that you have some ideas for what to put on your Stampin’ Up! January – June mini catalogue 2020 wish list!

Until next time, Happy Creating!
