Poppies are awesome!
One of my favourite flowers would have to be poppies. They bring back memories of idylic childhoods spent in my nanna’s garden while she pottered around the rose garden. In spring, planted between the thorny old fashioned roses was a riot of colour, brilliant poppies swayed in the gentle breezes. Nan had so many colours: red, yellow, orange, pink, white and sometimes even deep purple. My Pop (grandfather) loved poppies so after he died when I was about five, I would sit next to the poppy garden, “chat” to him and feel at peace. Pop loved the orange ones but Nan loved them all and cared for them like they were the most precious things on the planet! Even now, whenever I see poppies I am reminded of those happy days and my beautiful Nan and Pop.
