Alcohol Wash is all the rage!
On Sunday, I went to a collective market with my mum and sister, Linda. As we wandered through the stalls, I noticed there were so many stalls with beautiful alcohol wash plant pots and drink flasks. My favourites were made by What a Hoot Crafts. Just take a look at this pot that I’ve got my eye on – isn’t it stunning? (Hopefully, it will be available at the April Market.)
You may have seen in the current Stampin’ Up! 2021-2022 Annual Catalogue, that the Expressions in Ink Specialty Paper also features this alcohol wash look.
What if I told you that you could easily recreate this look for your paper crafting products at home? it’s true.
Alcohol Wash Basic Supplies
So you need just 5 basic supplies:
- White Vellum Card stock cut to size
- Stampin’ Blends (Alcohol Based Markers) in the colours of your choice.
- Water painters (filled with isopropyl alcohol)
- Isopropyl Alcohol (more than 90%) (Methylated spirits also works if you can’t get isopropyl alcohol).
- Paper towel or a rag to wipe your water painter on, (optional)
That’s it! You can choose to have a little dish or glass of isopropyl alcohol to dip your water painter into and a straw. (NO! you won’t be drinking it!)
The easiest way for me to explain this technique was to create a video…. so here it is.
Okay, I may have shown more than three variations of the technique, but it was so much fun experimenting.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Make sure your room/work area is well ventilated before trying this at home.
Be sure to tell me if you like the technique and reach out to me if you have any questions.
Until next time… Happy Creating
