A Fresh Take on Stamping

In yesterday’s blog, I shared the projects I created during my Facebook Live featuring Days 1 to 3 of the 12 Days of Crafting Advent Calendar. Today, it’s time for even more inspiration — and this time, we’re keeping things simple and stamp-focused!

Simple Stamping, Stunning Results

For this project, I used only the stamp set that accompanies the Advent Calendar and paired it with a few basic items from my stash. There’s no die cutting or fussy cutting involved — just some clever techniques. The card front features a piece I dry embossed for another project (waste not, want not!). I also used masking to create depth and layered effects without adding bulk — perfect for cards you’re posting overseas. If you haven’t tried masking paper yet, it’s a game changer! You can use sticky notes, but the full adhesive backing of masking paper makes alignment so much easier.

Colour Inspiration from the Calendar

The colour combination — Secret Sea, Poppy Parade, Garden Green, and Basic White — was inspired by the Advent Calendar packaging. A few touches of Crushed Curry in the flower centres finish it off beautifully. It’s a non-traditional twist on classic red and green, with Poppy Parade’s orange-red tones contrasting wonderfully against the dark navy-black hues of Secret Sea.

Two-Tone Cardstock for the Win

Can you spot the two-tone cardstock? I used small banner strips in place of ribbon to reduce bulk while adding more depth and dimension. The subtle variation in shades of Secret Sea gives extra interest without introducing new colours. The more I use the two-tone cardstock, the more I adore it! It’s lighter than standard cardstock, so it’s not ideal for card bases, but it’s a fantastic addition for layering and details.

There’s a full product list at the end of this post if you’d like to recreate this project. Be sure to tune in next Tuesday Night at 7:00pm AEST (8:00pm AEDT) on my Facebook page to see Days 4, 5, and 6 revealed.

Until next time… happy creating!
