Day 15 of our Colour Combinations of Christmas series leans right into warm, nostalgic tones—the kind that feel cosy, classic and a little bit luxurious. This is one of those combinations that rewards slowing down and letting the materials do the talking.

Today’s Colour Combination

12 Colour Combinations of Christmas 2025

Bonus Combo

This palette feels rich and grounded, with Pumpkin Pie bringing warmth and energy, Cherry Cobbler adding depth, and Old Olive keeping everything anchored in tradition. Very Vanilla softens the whole combination, giving it that gentle vintage feel rather than anything too bold or modern.

The Inspiration Photo

Today’s inspiration photo is a richly styled Christmas table setting that feels warm, nostalgic and just a little bit indulgent. Front and centre is a slice of pumpkin pie, its golden orange filling perfectly echoing Pumpkin Pie cardstock, resting on an ornate plate layered over deep Cherry Cobbler linens. Surrounding it are metallic pumpkins, classic candlesticks, soft candlelight and vintage-style tableware, all contributing to a luxurious, old-world festive feel. Touches of Old Olive appear subtly through greenery and accents, while the lighter elements in the scene mirror the crisp contrast of Basic White. It’s a beautiful reminder that Christmas colour inspiration doesn’t always have to come from trees and baubles — sometimes it comes from the table, the food we share, and the traditions we gather around.

The Product Focus

For today’s project, I used a bundle from the Beautiful Gallery Suite Collection, specifically the stamps and dies from the Beautiful Motifs Bundle. (links at the end) I absolutely adore these dies—they partially cut rather than fully cutting out, which makes them perfect for elegant, layered designs. And if you do want to separate the pieces, a quick snip with your scissors is all that’s needed, making them easy to use as individual embellishments as well. It’s one of those subtle features that instantly elevates a project without adding bulk.

My Project

Vintage Christmas colour combination using Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive with watercoloured baubles and layered elegance. Features Beautiful motifs bundle

I started by stamping onto different-sized circles cut from Fluid 100 Watercolour Paper, then created deeply coloured, washed baubles using Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Cherry Cobbler inks. Watercolour paper really allows the pigment to shine, giving those baubles an intense, rich finish you just can’t get on standard cardstock. Once the wash was done, I left the baubles to dry for several hours before moving on to stamping and heat embossing. This drying time is so important—not only does it keep the details crisp, it also stops embossing powder from sticking to unwanted areas of the water coloured paper. The linen thread adds the perfect vintage finishing touch, softening the look and reinforcing that old-world Christmas charm.

Let’s Talk Layers (and Bling)

The Pumpkin Pie card base is vibrant, warm and unapologetically bold—it sets the tone immediately. A Cherry Cobbler layer peeks out beneath the Very Vanilla card front, adding just a hint of deep red without overwhelming the design. Those Old Olive die-cut flourishes bring in movement and a touch of glamour, tying the whole colour combination together beautifully. As for the sequins, I can’t find the exact pack I used, so I suspect they’ve retired. Any metallic sequins will work here though—I’m sure you have adhesive-backed sequins or metallic gems hiding somewhere in your stash.

Why This Works

This card works because of balance. The warmth of Pumpkin Pie is offset by the depth of Cherry Cobbler, while Old Olive adds elegance and structure. The watercoloured baubles feel luxurious and handcrafted, and the partial-cut dies keep everything refined rather than fussy. It’s a beautiful reminder that sometimes classic Christmas colours shine brightest when you let texture and technique take centre stage.
