Today’s Christmas colour combination is a warm, slightly quirky mix of Basic Black, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake and Very Vanilla.

12 Colour Combinations of Christmas 2025

Bonus Combo

Some might view this as a very masculine colour combination but it doesn’t have to be. You can add hints of reds, greens or even blues to give it this foundation Christmas Colour Combination a unique look.

The Inspiration Photo

Inspiration photo for Day 18 of my Christmas colour combinations features dachshunds in Christmas Hats - the colour swatch is Cajun Craze, basic Black, Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake

The inspiration photo features three long-haired dachshunds wearing red and green Santa hats. Honestly… how could I not use this as inspiration? If you’ve ever watched one of my Facebook Lives, you’ll know I talk about my niece’s dachshund, Chip Duff, quite a bit (okay… a lot). He’s a gorgeous long-haired dachie with a cool attitude, flowing wind-swept locks reminiscent of Fabio, and yes, his own Instagram page. My friends Megan and Vickie also have dachshunds — one chocolate and two black and tan — so this photo ticked all the boxes for me. Cute, festive and personal. Best of all, I already had the perfect stamp set ready to go.

My Project

Day 18 of my Christmas colour combinations features dachshunds, Cajun Craze, neutrals - long time no see stamp set.

I’ll admit straight up — today’s project wasn’t originally created for this Christmas colour combination series, but it absolutely deserved a place here. This card was one of the September Craft Alive make & takes and is part of my Six Pack of Fun and Fancy Cards with accompanying tutorials, all centred around the Peaceful Garden Suite Collection. It was a really popular card on the day. You can easily swap out the sentiments if you don’t have the exact stamp set. If you’d like access to this six pack, send me an email — it’s currently available as a pre-Christmas special for $30.

The star of the show is the adorable dachshund from the Long Time No See stamp set, paired with papers from the Peaceful Garden and Weekend Adventures 12″ x 12″ DSP packs. That Cajun Craze buffalo plaid strip is such a strong contrast against the softer crumb cake pattern and adds instant warmth and character.

You might notice I stepped away from my usual Stampin’ Blends and markers and pulled out the Watercolour Pencils and clear Wink of Stella glitter brush instead. The Christmas sentiment sits inside the card, which also makes this design incredibly versatile — it could easily be adapted for birthdays or just-because cards. And yes, I added extra colours when I made these at Craft Alive… remember, the colour combination is always just a starting point.

Cutting the top Very Vanilla layer with the Textured Notes Dies adds a subtle layer of interest without overwhelming the design.

Why This Works

The neutral tones balance beautifully against the richness of Cajun Craze and the boldness of the black buffalo check. The Very Vanilla layers echo the warmth of the crumb cake DSP, creating cohesion across the card.I used a basic beige ribbon instead of Crumb Cake… mostly because there isn’t a current Crumb Cake ribbon (Stampin’ Up!™ if you’re listening 😉). To tie it all together, I added some Crumb Cake Baker’s Twine, which sits beautifully between the Very Vanilla and Crumb Cake tones and makes the colour substitution feel completely intentional.

Will I be back tomorrow with another Christmas colour combination? Who knows… maybe. Maybe not. I do love to keep things interesting 😉 Best bet? Until next time… happy creating.
