Hello and Happy Thursday!

Welcome to Day 4 of our 12 Colour Combinations of Christmas. Today we’re wandering a little off the traditional path… and I think you’re going to love it. Christmas colours don’t always have to be red and green—and this next combination proves it beautifully.

This warm, elegant palette brings together Timid Tiger, Very Vanilla, Old Olive and a touch of Gold. It’s rich, cosy and a little bit vintage. And while orange at Christmas might raise an eyebrow at first, trust me… this combination absolutely shines ✨

12 Colour Combinations of Christmas 2025

Just take a look at the colour inspiration photo below. Even without the classic festive shades, it says Christmas in that quiet, nostalgic way—like a treasured holiday vignette. Nothing says vintage Christmas quite like dried orange slices and gingerbread ornaments hanging in a tree.

My Day 4 12 Colour Combination Creation.

So what did I create with this elegant, non-traditional palette?

My card leans right into that warm vintage charm. The Timid Tiger and Old Olive baubles create a nostalgic glow, with Old Olive adding a crisp traditional counterbalance to the warmth of the Timid Tiger. The soft Very Vanilla tones of the watercolour paper background give the design that aged, timeless feel. And of course, the gold embossed accents… well, they’re the magic. Gold has this wonderful way of elevating even the simplest cards.

Right now you might be flicking through the catalogue looking for those round bauble stamps… stop searching! They’re not stamps at all. I simply cut three different-sized circles from cardstock to create a template, then used a Water Painter and ink refill on a block (my makeshift paint palette) to fill them in. Once the ink dried, I finished them off with stamps from the Ornamental Christmas set and a gold pen.

And don’t worry if your watercolouring smudges or runs a little, or if you get the occasional stray ink drip—honestly, it all adds to that handmade, original aesthetic. Every time you create on watercolour paper, your card will turn out a little different. That uniqueness is part of the magic and makes each one even more special.

Don’t forget your inside!

I kept the internal panel simple with layers of Very Vanilla and Timid Tiger. (So simple that I didn’t even photograph it) You could also add a little blending in the corner or a small gold-embossed detail to tie everything together. It’s subtle, but it really completes the look.

This is another post-friendly design—minimal bulk, plenty of visual impact, and that classic-meets-creative vibe that makes people immediately say “wow”.

If you’re drawn to warm tones or you’re secretly an orange lover, this palette will absolutely make your heart happy. It’s definitely made its way onto my personal favourites list for this series 🧡
