Yesterday, my good friend, Vickie Kello & I hosted our first joint one-day charity craft retreat to raise funds for 4Voices.  What a great day it was!  Judging by the smiles on people’s faces as they left the event, I think our attendees felt the same.
The day was filled with lots of laughter, crafting, great food, a few “ah-ha” moments and fun as this fabulous group of 18 ladies came together to create six very different projects designed by Vickie and me.

There were prize patrols, all-attendee giveaways, lucky draws and lots of excitement as raffles and Lucky Envelopes were drawn.
We were so fortunate to have 4Voices Volunteers pop in and give us a tour of their outreach vans and explain the work 4 Voices undertakes.

It takes a tribe…

An event like this doesn’t happen by magic.  It takes a tribe to bring things together.

Jenny and Kerin of the Lions Club of Algester-Parkinson welcomed everyone at the door and took charge of the raffle tickets and lucky envelopes.

The amazing Rhonda provided a feast fit for a king, or in this case, a room full of paper-crafting Queens. That lemon tart was divine! Just thinking of it makes my mouth water. Rhonda made sure that Vickie and I didn’t have to worry about the kitchen at all.

Shaunagh (who travelled from Melbourne to join the fun) and Carey-Ann put the finishing touches on our room.

Our husbands, Adrian and Steve set up tables, packed and unpacked cars, ferried boxes (so many boxes) supported us through our “stressy” moments and sold raffle tickets.  These men are our behind-the-scenes cheerleaders. My dear friends, Carol and Alison chipped in to help with preparations before the big day too.

Kylie, Vanessa, Sandy and a few others pitched in to clean up the room at the end of the day.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the day a success. An extra big thanks must go to Vickie who co-hosted with me. She is amazing. I appreciate her partnering with me to deliver this retreat. Looking forward to the next one in October.

$1000 donated to 4Voices.

Through event registrations, raffle tickets and lucky envelope sales and donations, we raised $1000 for 4Voices. What a stellar effort! Thank you to everyone who supported our fundraising efforts and attended our retreat.

Here’s the quick Facebook Live video I did on Saturday after coming home from the retreat.

Who won the raffles?

We had so many winners – rather than name them individually, here’s Vickie’s video of our raffle draw at the event

Congratulations to all the raffle winners! We hope you enjoy your prizes.

Tonight as I reflect on yesterday’s event, I can honestly say my “happiness and gratitude cups” are overflowing. Words can’t express how grateful I am for those who supported this fundraising endeavour.

Until next time… Happy creating.
